Yesterday, 23rd July, 2024, an ugly scenario occured in the capital city of Benue that almost resulted to religion crisis. The security guiding the house of the speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Aondona Dajoh, destroyed a mini Mosques that's in front Alh. Abubakar Adamu Bari Makurdi residence at Lobi quarters. The dual personalities who are neighbors that shared the same fence.

According to an eye witness; "The ugly incident happened around 4:00 PM, during when the Muslims faithful were observing their Asr prayers in a congregation including some of the security's that are Muslims who guiding the speaker's house. All of a sudden, some of the securities led by Hon. Aondona Dajoh whom instructed them to demolished the Mosque while the people are still observing their prayers, chasing them away including three (3) gunshots in the air".

This act demonstrated by the Speaker of Benue State House of Assembly, Hon. Aondona Dajoh and his securities is against the Nigeria constitution Fundamental Human Rights, Chapter 4. Section 38. Right to freedom of thought, conscience and religion.
*Every person shall be entitled to freedom of thought, conscience and religion, including freedom to change his religion or belief, and freedom (Either alone or in community with others, and in public or in private) to manifest and propagate his religion or belief in worship, teaching, practice and observance.

Moreso, According to Section II. Status of Government Respect for Religious Freedom: Legal/Policy; The constitution and other laws and policies generally protect religious freedom. The constitution mandates that the government “shall not adopt any religion as
State Religion.” Nigeria🇳🇬 has 36 states and a Federal Capital Territory. State governors and state legislatures enjoy significant autonomy in decision-making; however, the constitution prohibits state and local governments from adopting a state religion or giving preferential treatment to any religious or ethnic community.

This barbaric action taken by the Speaker of Benue State House of Assembly and his securities. If measures are not taking with immediate effect, it will affect the tireless efforts putting by the presents administration of His Excellency, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Alia, to ensure peaceful co-existance in the state.
Alh. Abubakar Adamu Bari, whose fundamental right was abused is known for his philanthropic work in Makurdi and also contributing his qouta towards National development and advocarting for peace in the State.

Recently; On the 13th of June, 2024, some members of the National Butcher's of Nigeria Benue State Chapter, had a clash with the livestock guard at Yongu community of Makurdi. According to anonymous, "The livestock guard went for the arrest of cows as the members of the above mentioned association went against the Anti grazing law in the State. Which resulted to a mortal combat between the members of butcher's and the live stock guard".
Alh. Abubakar Adamu Bari as a stakeholder who understands the importance of conflict resolution vividly, and his quest in serving humanity with core values. He deem it fit, to participate as a mediator.

Alh. Bari, came through as a mediator with the sole aim of finding a lasting solution that will satisfied the needs of all the involved parties by using appropriate conflict resolution techniques; Advice the NBNBSC to develop an action plan to put the agreed upon resolution into practice, in order to avoid similar problem in the future.
Peace and harmony cannot thrive where people cannot freely associate and air their grievances collectively in a sustainable matter.
